The Western Himalayas are spectacular but much less frequented than the Nepalese mountains. In some areas you are unlikely to encounter any tourists. We have an intimate knowledge of the mountains so we will be able to cater for your specific requirements, choosing a trek appropriate to your abilities and interests. These range from tough treks lasting three weeks over snow-covered passes, to short treks in the foothills amongst pine trees and rhododendrons.
When to go
Suitable treks can be arranged from April to October. Before the monsoon the only limitation is snow on the high passes so treks are generally made in the beautiful foothills or among the peaks that surround the Kullu valley. During the monsoon (July to September) you can cross the Rohtang pass into the much drier valleys of Lahoul, Spiti, Ladakh or Zanskar. The scenery is wonderfully varied and the campsites are superb. The local people, when encountered, are friendly and helpful. You will travel off the beaten track, over routes that we have previously reconnoitred.
